Mindtoons are the result of a collaborative deep dive into the fascinating realm of meditation by a serious game/experience designer and a meditation expert.
Carrie Heeter, Ph.D.
As Director of Mindtoon Lab, Carrie applies her expertise in meditation, user experience design and game design to create innovative applications of cybermeditation for productivity, health and well-being and as meaningful play.
As a professor of Media and Information at Michigan State University, she studies cybermeditation, including basic research on the mechanisms of meditation; cybermeditation for health and well-being; and implications of game design and gamification to support cybermeditation.
Carrie is an innovative, award-winning experience designer. She is also a Professor of Media and Information at Michigan State University where she teaches human-centered design and directs MSU’s fully online graduate certificate program in serious games.
Carrie has directed development of more than 50 interactive experiences including learning and cognitive games and other technology-enhanced learning experiences, interactive learning systems, and patient empowerment software. She has published more than 100 articles, chapters, books, and conference proceedings about individual and social impacts of interactive technology.
She has studied meditation for five years with her meditation teacher, Dr. Marcel Allbritton, in the tradition of Mr. T.K.V. Desikachar. For the last four years she has also participated in bi-monthly meditation planning classes taught by Chase Bossart. Together Carrie and Marcel have been developing approaches to deliver meditation in this lineage through smartphone apps, virtual reality and other technological systems.
Marcel Allbritton, Ph.D.
Marcel is Mindtoon Lab’s Meditation Consultant. He is a Clinical Yoga Therapist and Organizational Development Consultant. He teaches workshops and classes on topics such as principles of healing, chronic disease management, meditation, and use of breath.

, Marcel sees clients privately for health and well-being issues. His expertise is grounded in the practice and teachings of Krishnamacharya, the “father of modern yoga” who revitalized hatha yoga and introduced it to the west and of Krishnamacharya’s son and long time student, T.K.V. Desikachar, who further developed the field of yoga for healing. Marcel’s own teacher, Chase Bossart
, was a student of Desikachar.
As an Organizational Development Consultant, Marcel combines his twenty years of work in Organization Development, Knowledge Management, and Organization Communication with his experience in Clinical Mind-Body Therapy, Meditation, and Traditional Healing Systems, Alternative Health, and Wellness.
